Bachelor of Business studies (BBS)
Program Structure
The Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) at Tribhuvan University is a four-year, yearly-based undergraduate program designed to provide students with both breadth and depth in business education. The curriculum includes compulsory courses, core business courses, concentration-area courses, and a final project, with a total of 19 courses covering 1950 marks plus a 50-mark project component. In the first three years, students study foundational and core business subjects, while the fourth year focuses on specialization and research-oriented learning. The final year also includes three concentration courses from one functional area and a final project report.
Objectives
The BBS program aims to develop students into competent managers capable of working in business, industry, government, and entrepreneurial settings. It seeks to build conceptual knowledge of business and administration, practical managerial skills, entrepreneurial capacity, and a foundation for higher studies in management. The program also emphasizes the development of responsible leadership, analytical ability, and a general management perspective. In addition, it prepares students for teaching, research, consultancy, and other advanced academic pursuits.
Specializations
The BBS curriculum offers concentration in one of four major functional areas: Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. Students select three courses from one chosen stream in the fourth year to develop functional expertise. This structure allows students to align their academic focus with their professional interests and career goals. The curriculum also includes research and final project work related to the student’s specialization.
Career Prospects
BBS graduates have opportunities in business organizations, financial institutions, public administration, entrepreneurship, and higher education. The program is designed to prepare students for managerial roles in organized sectors of the economy. It also supports further study in management, business, and related disciplines.
